Two artist exhibition
DaneStyles Hair Artistry, Snohomish WA
June 1-July 30, 2023 

 

Johanna Porter will display several of her digital drawings and analog mixed-media artworks for sale at Dane Styles Hair Artistry this summer. The salon, owned by Lone Ørsted Holst, features installations of two artists simultaneously who create from a deep connection to the natural world. Visitors are welcome to visit the art during salon hours, 9am-5pm, Tuesday through Saturday.

"Transitory Nature" a solo exhibition
Thomas Architecture Studios, Olympia WA
April 1-May 24, 2023 

 

Contemporary artist Johanna Porter announces a solo exhibition “Transitory Nature” at Thomas Architecture Studios Artist Gallery in Olympia WA, April 1- May 24, 2023. Artist reception on April 28, 2023, 5-10 PM during Olympia Spring Arts Walk. Thomas Architecture Studios is located at 525 Columbia Street, Olympia WA. Regular gallery hours are Tuesdays-Fridays after 2PM. “Transitory Nature” is a solo exhibition of three dozen digital and mixed-media artworks created over the past 44 months since the artist re-located from South Florida to the Pacific Northwest.

Together Center Public Art Commission

A digital drawing by contemporary artist Johanna Porter has been selected for installation at Together Center, a social services community center in Redmond WA. Her digital artwork "Pollinator" was chosen by the art advisory committee for installation outside the communal conference center at the new site. Construction of the facility is well underway and the artwork should be installed in April 2023. Together Center is a unique and thriving model that benefits both clients seeking services and the dedicated nonprofits who serve them. The 20 nonprofit providers located at TC's site in downtown Redmond serve over 30,000 neighbors in need each year, with clients coming from all over the Greater Eastside of Seattle and beyond.

2023 Edition of Clamor!- UWB's art and literary journal

A mixed-media digital assemblage by contemporary artist, Johanna Porter, has been selected for inclusion in the Clamor! 2023 edition.

Clamor! is the University of Washington Bothell’s annual Literary and Arts Journal, representing the best creative practices in literary, visual and media arts from across our campus and surrounding community. Clamor is published by students for students and is staffed by participants in BISIA 401 at UWB.

"Artful Stories & Community Narratives" an exhibition of narrative art
Sammamish Commons, Feb. 3- April 28, 2023

A digital drawing by contemporary artist Johanna Porter has been curated into "Artful Stories & Community Narratives". The exhibit features art that uses visual narratives for stories and journeys that recall events or lived experiences. The exhibition tour is on March 9th from 6:30-7pm, with storytelling from 7-8:30pm. The mission of the Sammamish Art Commission exhibit is to create community and make connections.

Fountain Hills AZ Public Art Commission

"We Stand As One", a digital drawing from the DREAMTINE series, by contemporary artist Johanna Porter has been selected for the pilot  public art project at Fountain Hills Pump House in Fountain Hills AZ. The mural artwork for “Legends and Lore of the Valley of the Sun” is printed in full color on dibond metal and displayed as a series of 8 x 4 ft murals on a stucco wall at the Pumphouse in Fountain Park. The installation will be displayed from March of 2023 through February 2024. Over 150 public artworks can be found in Fountain Hills- one of the largest public art collections in the state of Arizona.

City of Renton Public Art Commission

A digital drawing by contemporary artist Johanna Porter has been selected by the Renton Municipal Arts Commission to create a vinyl-wrapped utility box. The artwork "Go With the Flow" was inspired by the annual migration of salmon within small waterways flowing into Lake Washington and Puget Sound. This often goes unnoticed by their human neighbors. Here the colorfully graphic “urban commute” of this keystone species swims alongside traffic. The installation can be found at the intersection of NE Duvall  Ave and NE 4th Street in Renton.

Johanna Porter is the featured solo artist at The Anxious Tomato Gallery's virtual gallery for February 2023.  The Anxious Tomato's goal is to become a valued and sought-after resource for the artistic community, providing services and education to artists and art enthusiasts in Tacoma and the surrounding areas. "For the Voices of Women " an artistic response to women's suffering around the world, Studio 103 Seattle

The Visitation, a digital drawing by contemporary artist Johanna Porter has been curated into the Studio 103 December 2022 exhibition "For the Voices of Women". The show is an event that gives a voice to women's struggles and runs from December, 1 2022- December 17, 2022 in Pioneer Square, Seattle, WA. The exhibition will be accompanied by a zine that gathers the artists' work, thoughts and a curated reading list addressing women's suffering around the world.

2022 CoCA Seattle Members' Exhibition, Pluralism

Two works by contemporary artist Johanna Porter have been juried into the 2022 Center on Contemporary Arts, Seattle group Exhibition: PLURALISM. "For too long, we have valued the individual as one of the strongest drivers of our cultural, social, economic and political systems. As that power begins to feel more and more limited, it is through aggregation that we see the greatest opportunities for transformation and growth." The exhibition opens during First Thursday artwalk in Pioneer Square, Seattle on Nov. 3rd, 5-10 PM, at the Center on Contemporary Art and runs through Jan. 27, 2023.
