" THE LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS"
The Grange, Duvall WA • June 2022

The Language of Flowers, public art installation, 2022

The Language of Flowers, Duvall WA, 2022:
recycled vinyl LPs, digital drawing collage on clear and holographic vinyl

There is a long and intimate conversation between humans and their plant companions. The Language of Flowers is a visual record of my attempts to embody a gathering place for bees in my home garden. The flowers contain symbolic meanings with wishes for love, strength, joy, friendship, serenity, hope and wisdom for our community.

The pop-up art installation launched during Duvall Days, a celebration of the farming community of Duvall WA, June 4, 2022. The location is the corner of Main and Stella Street at the historic Grange Duvall, a locally-owned farm-to-table restaurant.

Grange halls hold a unique space in our nation’s farming legacy. The Grange Organization was established shortly after the close of the Civil War to unite farmers for social, educational and political purposes. Today the Duvall Grange serves as a social and cultural pollinator between local farmers, musicians, artists, craftspeople and residents of the Snoqualmie River Valley.
